I hear they use very finely ground gold leaf and glue mixture
Don't know whether its just left to dry or fired in kiln again afterwards. I have zero pottery exp.

The gold is fired on at a very low temperature. You could have a potter re-do it.... it is pretty simple to do. But the refiring might cause some changes to the other aspects of the piece.

For example, if there is crazing with staining in the craze lines, then that stuff will burn out. If the exposed clay body is darkend by years of accumulated stains, it will burn out. So it will lose the "patina of age".
