Questions about my new pot

by Roughage » Dec 1st, '11, 08:33

Hmm, giving this topic the title 'My new pot' implies that I have bazillions of them. This is actually my first pot of this type. I saw it in our local Chinese supermarket and fell in love with it immediately, so I had to have it. It helped that the price was right too! Anyway, the lady in the supermarket did not seem to know much at all about it and seemed like she did not want to sell it to me (!) so I was not able to find out much about it while I was there. I was hoping that someone here might be able to tell me more. As a posh tea novice, I would be grateful for any and all help. I can attempt to take better photos if that will help. Of particular interest to me is the meaning of the characters on the side of the pot and anything in the pictures that would tell me more about the origin and construction of this pot. Even if you cannot tell me anything more about it, I hope you enjoy the aesthetic appeal of this pot.

The pot came with a set of cups and saucers. I have pictured just two of the cups:

The pot itself. It is pictured against the lid of its case:

All I can say is the following:

1. Zi ni clay.

2. I would use it to brew either cooked (first choice) or raw puerh.

Enjoy it!

Thank you for the response. Yes, my plan is to use it for shu pu, because that is what I currently have. I am looking forward to spending time seasoning it. 8)
