IngenuiTEA question

by Timbobaggins » Dec 3rd, '11, 13:59

Hi all,

I have a question about my IngenuiTEA whenever I pour my water into the the IngenuiTEA the leaves all settle to the bottom of the filter pretty much immediately, It seems to do it with whatever tea I use, yet on videos of the IngenuiTEA in action the leaves tend to be at the top of the ingenuiTEA and slowly settle to the bottom. In my igenuitea the leaves go straight to the bottom, firstly, is this normal? and secondly will it compromise the taste of my tea?

Thanks everyone.

It might have something to do with the kind of tea you're using (or some factors relating to the tea you're using). Usually, for me, for whatever reason, around half of the leaves float and the rest fall to the bottom. What tea are you using?

Another thing to consider might be the water that you're using maybe(?). I'm not sure if that would matter or not, but it'd be really cheap to pick up a small bottle of spring water at the grocery store to test. Even if it doesn't solve the issue, you might find your tea tastes better with bottled spring water than with whatever you had been using (I'm assuming tap?).

Hopefully this leads you in the right direction. :?:

It has nothing to do with your vessel. Some teas float, others do not. A good longjing or silver needle looks very nice floating in a clear vessel; they look like stalactites hanging from the surface of the water.

Hi, thanks for the feedback, I did note last night that my gunpowder green half floated and half settled, my earl grey however most sank to the bottom and only a little floats, I guess it's just the density and mass of the leaves, the water I use is filtered tap water by the way.

I was just hoping that it wouldn't compromise on taste at all, the fact that all the leaves were settling to the bottom so quickly I thought may of affected the taste of the tea.
