Are these pure zhuni?

by auhckw » Dec 8th, '11, 05:55

I have not bought any of these... Mind to give opinions whether do you think it is pure Zhuni?

Zhuni 01 - Old - Mass Produced - About USD 90. They have 9 units of the exact same thing. All used and quite dirty. The photo below is after I cleaned it with Magic Sponge.

*What does the chop say?

Zhuni 02 - Old - Artist - The sales person cannot confirm the price, but tentatively said it is about USD 650. Have to check with the boss when he is back.

*What does the chop say? Really an artist?

Zhuni 03 - New - About USD 160. Said to be new Zhuni. Looks different from 01 and 02. Doesn't have much shrinkage, but the shape sure is nice.

First pot is made by 王霞(?), looks like mediocre Yixing potter of today,

Second pot looks mixed Zhuni, I only see 陈 and 林, missed middle letter, however the price listed might be too high? IMHO.

Third one is old Zhuni pot style, looks like the clay was quite purely processed, looks modern Zhuni.

Have no idea whether it's pure Zhuni or not. They are all quite nice to brew TGY :) The definition of 'pure Zhuni' is not clear itself, too. hehe

All three pots are fairly recent (no older than 30 years). I'm sure they'll all be fine for brewing tea, if that's what you're asking. How much does the seller want?

Thanks guys for the input. I actually liked Number 3 a lot, it is nearly perfect except in the inner wall top there is a white patch. Looks like it is being scratched badly / patched. It feels smooths though. Not very obvious since it is on the inner side but it has stopped my impulse.

Number 1 is quite heavy. Not very high pitch. Somehow the fat round shape catches my attention too.

I am considering hard on Number 2. It feels nice touching the surface. I have always wanted a 3 legged teapot which I like and Number 2 is also love at first sight, but not cheap in the pocket... sigh

How much is not cheap? I won't pay more than $100 USD for any of them, and even if under I'll have to look at them carefully before deciding.

Price is shown in the first post. I think you missed it.

Anyway, I have decided not to buy any of the 3 pots cause I just bought my most expensive teaware... will snap photos tonights...

Yet another 3 leg teapot found. Not zhuni. Looks red, but it is zisha (purple clay). Semi handmade.
