A family member has just acquired a new Taiwanese teapot. I have not tried brewing tea in it yet but it comes with one of those strings attached to the lid.
What do you do when you clean the teapot? Does the string get tea-stained?

Removal when cleaning possible?

Not a good idea to remove the string, unless you want to remove it permanently.
Be careful, though. Depending on the length, the string may save the lid from certain types of peril, but may also expose it to new types of peril.

I personally dislike the string and will remove it myself, but that's because I don't want it at all.
Like Will said - it saves the pot from some kinds of peril, but it exposes the pot (and especially the lid) to other kinds of danger.
