Cleaning the ingenuitea
I'm considering to purchase the ingenuitea but I'm a bit worried about cleaning it. I've read that you had to remove the filter but some people report having problems putting it back on or it being loose. I also read somewhere there was an old version of the ingenuitea? Are the current ones being sold without all the problems?
Ingenuitea filter
I bought an Ingenuitea recently and I think it's v2.0 since I can easily remove the filter, clean under it and replace it. Most of the time I just rinse the Ingenuitea out and run clear water through it but it's good to be able to clean under the filter periodically. I also bought a replacement filter for backup.
Also, you can buy it with and without a sample set, for the same price. I think more is better in this case.

I'm having problems with my ingenuitea. I think I have the latest model, it's the 32oz.
I have read some posts on this forum about how to clean it. My conclusion so far is to remove the black bottom and pop the filter out through the top. However, I have been unable to do that.
I have tried removing the bottom but I'm afraid I will break it. But, in doing so, I think I messed up the valve because now it drains very very slowly and sometimes stops completely. I have tried tinkering with the value to correct this, but with no success. I have actually stopped using it because of this.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better way to take out the filter?
The ingenuitea is an awesome product. I just wish it would come with some instructions on maintenance ...

I have the 16 oz Ingenuitea, and I can just reach in from the top and remove the filter for cleaning.
Maybe there's a basic difference in the design of the 2 sizes. I just checked the Adagio web site and I don't see replacement filters offered for sale for the 32 oz. I bought one for the 16 oz, and looking at that made it obvious to me how to remove the filter for cleaning.
I'm really happy with my Ingenuitea, but now I'm considering buying an earthenware teapot with an infuser, like the Chatsworth, since earthenware is supposed to hold heat better than plastic.

There is a big difference in taste. Don't get me wrong, I use the filters all the time because they are easy, and the tea still tastes good. But, like all teabags and small infusers, the water circulation around the tea is slower than with freefloating tea leaves in a big infuser/pot. This, in my experience, leaves a very discernable lack of depth to the tea made with the filters. Thanks for the info! Just one more question, is the ingenuitea worth all the trouble or should I just get the paper filters? Is there that much of a difference in taste?
Life is like a cup of tea, savor it slowly or it will be gone too fast
