The one model which is not for induction works with either an electric hotplate or gas/alcohol. But they advise you to choose one of these methods and stick to it. Electric or flame.

I use this electric hotplate to heat both the tetsubin and lins kettle, but when I am in a hurry I heat it on the gas flame, but I put a metal ring under it so it never touches the direct flame.
Both kettle serve their pourpouse well, lins kettle are best used for oolongs, and tetsubin it better for green or high fired teas.

I recently snagged a one liter Lin's from something smuggled in's blog sale? I love it. I like the smaller size as I am unfortunately drinking tea alone allot of the time.
