As others have mentioned, their pots are bigger than the stated size, unless they're basing it on approximate volume of brewed tea.

I measure the 80 ml pot as 95 ml, and the 120 ml as 170-175 ml (based on weight).

Consider yourself lucky, you could´ve done much worse, just look at my pots
The size of one my custom made pots are not what I was expecting either!

How was the process of ordering a custom pot from them? Did you ask for a spec they do not have or simply sent a picture of the pot you want and they made it? Will be interesting to know. ~ Cheers

Hi Tim, basically, I chose the models from http://www.zishateapot.co.uk/, which is suppose to be their official website and in there you have the cost of the hand made pots. Where it is also explained that you can choose the clay, etc.

Before this I contacted Chen by PM here on teachat. After exchanging some PMs. I finally chose the clay, year of it, volume of the pot and model.
Also asked for thickness and degree of fire but her advice was to leave that to the potter. I also obviously requested (naively )that her father make the pots.
Since according to our conversation. The only potters (whom appear on the website) apart from her father, were her mother and a friend.
This was for the lixing and Duo qiu.

The fangu and hanbian are semi-hand made.

Wyardley, regarding the size matter, my fangu is 130 so this proves buying to this vendor is a Russian roulette, you may get the size asked, good craftsmanship, or you may get a pot like mine or different volume requested

Yes, but for half-handmade pots that are standard offerings published on the site (where a mold is used, and clay type and shrinkage should be pretty consistent), it shouldn't be difficult to publish the size correctly and accurately (plus or minus a few ml).

Since this is one of the things many people have complained about with this vendor, you'd think they might adjust the published sizes on the site to be correct.

I am with you, what else can I say... It is clear that the only thing that matters to them is to fill their pockets, they don't even care about their reputation as long as we keep buying their pots...

I don't trust this vendor at all, any longer. After what happened with my pots there's nothing else to say...

Chen should certainly show up in this thread and take responsibility for your issue and mine too...
Unfortunately, I don't think that will happen. Maybe you could contact her a give it try. I totally lost hope in my case, when I tried it she gave me a bunch of nonsense excuses...

That would explain why I was remembering that the original avatar wasn't quite right. Oh well... too complicated for me...

We also have to remember that someone else other than the supposedly 'real' Chen had access to Teachat using Chen's ID and spread some disinformation that the supposedly 'real Chen' later apologised for.

I was lucky and got a really good pot from them. But am unlikely to ever go back.

I don't know what is going on but all the pots I got from them (six in total) are excellent: zhu ni, zi qi nie, duan ni and di cao qing. But the truth is they all belong to the semi-handmade category. The clay used in Chen's workshop is tops, which to me is what counts the most.

I have not had any bad experiences now or in the past with this vendor.
I have ordered "regular" items as well as custom orders mostly with a drawing on the teapot or characters that I would like on the teapot.

I usually ask about the progress of my teapot or if there are any problems. If more time is needed I give more time. Especially if the teapot is for me.
If it is to be a gift I order with ample time especially if there is to be a design.
So far the results have been excellent.
I posted the matching teapot in another forum. (Looking for a Yixing...)
