Further information needed on this pot

by TMike » Aug 19th, '12, 03:21

Hi everyone!
I was hoping if anyone of you yixing experts can tell me more about this particular pot. Specifically type of clay (I suspect it might be Zini but I'm looking to verify that) and what does the bottom mark/certificate say.

This is all out of curiosity since this is the only pot I haven't purchased myself. I have used it to brew Tie Guan Yin and has gained a little luster over the time.

This is all I know about this particular pot:

-It was given to my father as a gift, by a Chinese couple he met, during a business trip to China.
-When he gave me the pot, the price sticker was still under the pot and was valued at 1800 rmb (thats about $283), whether that's the actual price the Chinese couple actually paid for it I don't know.
-As you can see in the pictures, no signature was written in the certificate.

Here's a set of pics I took of the pot in question.

Any info would be appreciated :)

The photo of the kiln with the four characters says "yixing zisha" (宜兴 紫砂)... that's about all I can tell you, which ain't much!

It looks like nice clay, potter is apparently a dude called Li Qiang. It also looks gigantic though. What's the capacity of this?
