Gaiwans

I have recently discovered these incredible little cups and I love them! Picked up three last week, all under $8 a piece (the cheapest, in bone china, only cost me $2.50). Would love to see some nicer ones! Here are the two I picked up yesterday, along with two small bottles of Chinese wine. The small Jingde bottle with the dragons on it was just too cool to pass up. I think I might do the Hong Kong thing and use it for storing toothpicks

Tinols, nothing fancy, just cheap gaiwans I liked the look of.

I'd really like a nice Jingde blue and white gaiwan with a nicely done dragon, phoenix or rooster! I need a tiger in the rotation somewhere too, and a monkey (my Chinese zodiac sign).

I'll post my next gaiwan(s) there. They are just so cool

I am in no way a collector of teaware. But if I was such a collector, these little beauties would be my primary addiction (even though senchas are my tea of choice).

I'm definitely not trying to start yet another collection...Hong Kong homes are too small for that If anything, I need to offload some items from my other collections!

Gaiwans have such quirky, cool charm; they're always fun to pick out in Shaw Bros. flicks. Great for oolong!

When I bought these, a couple from China walked over to the gaiwans and their jaws dropped when they saw me seriously hemming and hawing over the assortment. They asked the sales lady there how much they were. I looked at 'em and they gave me a big smile.

They definitely are cool. I may have to make a trip up to China exclusively for tea and teaware soon!

I'm currently sucked into the Chinese serial, "Bu Bu Jing Xin" (Startling By Each Step). Gaiwans galore! Rouxi's floral designs are beautiful. [sighs]
