Unfortunately with Japanese chawan, the good ones are expensive. They know the value of good ceramics, and the long history there supports it. This actually is not a really expensive one. Kinda' about mid-range.

best,

I was thinking of getting it but the $48 shipping puts it out of my price range.

I was actually just Got finished drooling over this chawan for about five min. Then I noticed this post. I don't really drink much Japanese tea but that cup is mesmerizing.

One of these days when I am in a very financially secure place, I would love to have a Kaneta Masanao piece. Chawan, Yunomi, Guinomi, you name it. If I have to pick a favorite Japanese Artist, it would be him.

So naturally I have drooled over many of his pieces.

It's really nice. But I've decided not to have any fragile ware worth more than 3-months' meal. I break things... too easily...

I don't care for the foot. He should have glazed the entire thing so it looked completely like a rotting molar.
