One advantage of buying books from Amazon, is that they tell you when you have already purchased an item

Re: Yuzamashi/samashi
Now, for making matcha, is there traditionally a water cooler for that? I have never seen one although I myself use a water cooler intended for gyuokuru (sp?) which means it's without a handle since the water temp is low.
I'm also in the market for a better water cooler (with handle). Any recommendations?

Re: Yuzamashi/samashi
yes, traditionally you add a hishaku of cool water from your mizushashi, sometimes two ladles if the water is really hot. what you see most people doing on here with matcha is more like placing matcha in a senchado setting rather than a chanoyu setting. If your breaking the "rules" use whatever you would like to cool your water.thibaulthalpern wrote:Now, for making matcha, is there traditionally a water cooler for that? Cool.
I've only found three places to get a water cooler and the selections are slim! There's Artistic Nippon, O-Cha.com, and Hibiki-an.com. Do folks have other recommendations to get a water cooler? Thanks!

Re: Yuzamashi/samashi
nothing fancy, it's one from rishi, matches a lot of my tea ware and holds about 16oz ( go big or go home). pulled it out for senchado this morning thought I would snap a few pics of these often forgotten pieces.

here it is in action. No problems with the pour it's fantastic for what it does.

and of course the artist's mark
