I seek advice on celadon. Such as, what are signs of quality or lack of quality, etc. I can visit places of production in the city & nearby & perhaps even commission pieces that I haven't seen & don't own, gaiwans & tea trays. Advice on gaiwan celadons is requested.
I will arrive in Thailand Jan. 3rd for a 10-week stay which will include a few weeks in Chiangmai where celadon is made. The green cups & teapots that I have seen but not examined, have never excited me; however, I decided I should purchase at least a couple sets of teaware because there will be room for it in my luggage this trip.
I can buy at low prices from vendors of the weekend night markets. Is there a reason not to do this?
Thank you.

Re: Advice on purchasing celadon in Thailand
I can point you to some vendors who sell gaiwan and other porcelain products that will vary in cost and quality but the celadon products are usually mass produced and not so appealing. There may be some artisan celadon makers up north. If you are going through Hong Kong, there will probably be a better quality selection as the porcelain used in China is of a better quality, I think. Also Malaysia. Thailand does not have much of a tea culture comparatively speaking. You can PM me and will try to help.ethan wrote:I seek advice on celadon.
