i'm actually a little embarrassed about my tattoos. i got them when i was really young and didn't put really much thought into them. i have 3 tattoos. the one that's not pictured is a religious symbol on my lower back. i really would like to get a chinese dragon to match the one my husband has and i'd like to weave in tea and music into the theme.
this one is on my shoulder and the pic is a little weird because it came from a pic where someone was hugging me
this one represents soul/spirit. i got it at a rough period in my life and it was to remind me that i will get through it. i've had a few different interpretations of it from my japanese friends, but most said it was spirit or soul or holy spirit. sorry the pic is blurry and faded looking, it came from a pic i scanned and my hair is a bit in the way:

Do tattoos you've designed for other people count?
Sadly, I have yet to take the plunge myself, though I've done about 30-40 designs for other people (mostly of kitsune). I keep thinking I should get one of my own, though ...

I just have my wings, drawn/gotten at 18: http://i.imgur.com/dU6Dh.jpg
Simple, but I love them. I have plans for more, though just haven't gotten myself committed to anything quite yet.

I only got my ear pierced at the age of 36. Before that, I was too scared to do any piercing. The lady who did my ear piercing was shocked to learn it was my first time of piercing
But it feels good to do something new! I am accumulating my courage for a tattoo, maybe in my next zodiac year

Re: Show off your Tattoos
Hi everybody,
I just came across this category and went and took a pic of mine. I designed it and got it in 1999 when I went through my divorce. It's lost a lot of it's color over the years. It is a ticked off me, (a Leo) because my ex wouldn't work on our marriage which meant splitting up our family.
On a positive note, I also put in representation of the Ying and Yang of life. The new school "ticked off, flame-engulfed lion" is balanced by the old school "Japanese finger waves" - fire and water... and the clouds that symbolize change?

Hope that wasn't TMI.
