I'm a monkey and I drink Chinese tea every day anyway--if I drank any more I would have to quit sleeping.

Chinese New Year is officially here: my breakfast smacks of the crazy multicultural nature of my life. Gouda with Austrian sourdough (dad got back from Austria last night), American eggs overeasy and handmade lo baak goh (turnip cake, loaded with scallops and delicious ham) a business associate gave me last night. She made a ton at home and hit me with a huge container full to take home. I am definitely very appreciative.
Going to wash it down with some shui xian that I started last night.
Odd SX in that it tastes a little green, but it is very calming.

Just curious--is that turnip cake made with mashed, shredded or sliced turnips? I'm reading while quite hungry at the moment....

Mashed, and I think she used lap cheong (Chinese sausage) because I can taste the rose wine! I love Chinese New Year!
I'm sure you'll be able to find some in Chinatown or even ingredients to make your own!
Edit: shredded, but it feels mashed after cooking
