Staining In Boiling Chamber

by RandyFemrite » Jan 5th, '08, 17:56

I recieved my TriniTea Electric Tea Maker a month ago and it works great.
The only thing that bothers me is the staining/discoloration inside the boiling chamber.
Is this normal?

Its not a stain but simply mineral deposits from the water. It can be easily cleaned up with a vinegar and water solution every so often. Just be sure to wash it out very well when you are finished, otherwise your tea will taste a bit sour.

If the discoloration is white or off-white, then it's most likely mineral deposits.

Curiously, I have noticed a very small amt. of mineral deposits in my 2-week old UtiliTEA, even though I use filtered water.

I suppose a bit of mineral is desireable in one's tea water- 100% pure distilled H2O is probably too bland... And I know the Chinese were big on using Spring Water from particular sources, which must contain minerals...

In any case, I'm not very worried about cleaning... I use the UtiliTEA 4 times a day and even at that rate, looks like I will not have to clean it more than once a month...

Right don't worry about it, its natural and easy to clean off when it gets to heavy. Just watch out for letting it go for too long because then it starts to chip out and leave white chunks of mineral deposits in your tea.

Jogrebe is correct, as well as every one else. Just be sure to run a cycle of just water after cleaning it- no one likes vinegar tasting tea! :)

I get them too and I have filtered water twice over. Vinegar and water does the trick.
