Status labels...do you want them?

by Mary R » Jan 17th, '08, 18:15

Hey all,

When Chip and I first became Mods, one of the ideas Xine had to keep things hoppin' on TeaChat was giving chatters titles (like the Mod Squad that appears after our names) when they hit certain numbers of posts. We'd thought about starting new poster out as a Liptonite or something cute like that...but clearly we couldn't keep up with the number of new signups...and besides, most tend to drop out after 15 or so posts, so it was sort of wasted effort on our part.

But I was thinking...it could totally be a do-able thing if we started giving status labels at Post #100, then upping the 'prestige' of the label for every additional 100 until the user hits 1000. The first hundred is a milestone anyway...it would be nice to have an official marker. :D

So my question to you is, do you want it? If so, what sort of labels would make a good hierarchical tea-related ranking? We'd need 10 of them.

LOL...Mary, for someone who was going to be very scarce for a while, you are definitely not.

Why not insert a POLL here...just a thought.

Well, a poll might be nice once we are done brainstorming. I'll post if I think of any ideas.

Its a neat Idea, but I like things the way they are. I don't think I'd enjoy such a visible representation of a hirearchy here, though I guess you can already glance to the side and seen the number of posts and think, "Holy shit, Chip has a 1000 posts, that guy's probably never even seen a member of the opposite sex," and so forth.

:P Love you, Chip.

I tried to limit myself to one glance at the boards a day, but y'all are just too compelling. :)

In all seriousness, though...Kariagate sucked me in and ate up more time than I had to give. When I was posting earlier this morning, my mother called my cell phone (the modern version of the quintessential invalid bell) and left me the most pitiful message about how I was neglecting her and how she was getting bedsores. She was kidding, I think. Dinner's also going to be a slapdash affair tonight. Thank god for my Mom's friend who brought us a lasagna!

Course now I have to spend tomorrow baking cookies to give her when I return her lasagna plate...but cookies are fun.

Hmm, perhaps we could give status labels to ITD members?

I love the idea.

This sort of thing promotes spamming the board with meaningless posts, for the purpose of raising one's status label. Otherwise, it's lovely! :P

I wonder if we get enough traffic on the forum boards to really make the status labels meaningful.

I refuse to be labeled! You'll never take me alive! *maniacal laughter as he dashes out the window*

Actually it doesn't matter much to me either way. Wouldn't hurt to try it out I suppose.
