11/9/13 TeaDay Tea mood?

by Chip » Nov 9th, '13, 12:16

Welcome TeaChatters to Finally, another TeaDay.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. "Tea and Mood, drink for mood, or mood for drink?" This is going to be a mind bender I think and the answer may not be as easy as you think! I am going to leave the interpretation up to each individual. Please share! Certainly tea and mood are related, how do they relate for you?

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone and to get everybody's spin on the question  Bottoms up.

I voted "other" because for me it is both.
Sometimes I am really in the mood for a certain kind of tea, a craving. Most times I am just in the mood to get into my "tea space".
Often times the tea I am drinking can change my mood. It can relax me when I am stressed and it can lift me when I am feeling down.

Definitely tea for mood. Sometimes want something a little zippier (more likely to go for green, wuyi oolong or young sheng), more often seeking calm (shu, most oolongs).

Tonight seeking mellow, working on day 2 of a 7 year old sheng (the Feng Hua from 2 days ago, delicious.

I just have tea when I feel like it, which is all the time, so I guess... neither?

Sounds like "mood for tea" all the time.

I voted "mood for tea" ... this is me 90% of the time, I am in the mood for tea and thus have tea. Though I am in the mood for tea virtually all the time which I have tempered a bit over the years ... and am thus not bouncing around like I was when I was newer to good loose tea.

Mood for tea. I drink tea when I feel like drinking tea (and actually have the time to make it). Unfortunately, there hasn't been much overlap lately. My recent TDJ order should arrive right as the semester begins to die down. I'm looking forward to experiencing some new teas, but more looking forward to the time available to enjoy tea more often :D

Hmm...I picked 'mood for drink' but it also depends on teas.

Green tea is definately 'mood for drink'..for example I never drink greens in winter or fall. For me it's strictly for spring & summer consumption.

TGY also is 'mood for drink' I love this tea after having finished a dinner, better if I have companies around me, it gets rid of meal left-over and refreshes my mouth.

I like to have Shu at night or when I feel a flu or hang-over (also relates to 'mood' I think :) )

Fall is a season for Sheng, my body feels heat when drinking Sheng..so

I drink Yancha almost all the time, whenever my body lacks water..so it's more of 'drink for mood' thing for me

I guess I am more in the drink for mood set up, as I feel tea helps get me into the right mindset, or at least reset my mindset to jump back into the Fray.

Oh, and you might be a tea drinker if this is your normal dining room table:

Nice shot of the two teaware items that remind us of Ian most.
