Canadian Study: high levels of lead found in tea
Uh oh. I'm still going to drink tea but I am a little worried still. I am not in any risk group for lead exposure/harm but this makes me wonder about those who are.

Chip,
That is a good idea.
I read somewhere else that the study was done on bagged tea from China, the commentator theorized that being so it was was "cheaper" tea from older plants and older leaves to the bottom, that absorb more things from the soil.
Assuming all that is true, it isn't maximally reassuring.
Is it cheap, older, "bottom tea" just because it is in a bag? Is it newer, higher quality tea just because it is in bulk? How much more do you have to pay to know you are safe?

VERY interesting.
I "get" the China air pollution thing...... from being there. The air quality is astoundingly BAD! That crap HAS to settle onto the soil surface leaves surfaces and also likely is absorbed into the leaves of all plants as they transpire.
Really never thought about THAT aspect.
Most of what we drink is Japanese...... but some Chinese. Hum...........
best,
