Tea Shop in Los Angeles? For high qualily kyusu

I am going to CA in a few weeks. I just wondering if there any good tea shops... When I was in San Fran I found a one which were really amazing. Brought a new oribe teapot and cups. Also found one in nyc on madison.

Bamboo Tea Co. is in Pasadena is worth the trip. Lots of tea and beautiful pots and cups to choose from. Also Wing Hop Fung in Chinatown has all the tea I can handle right now. I've tasted stuff there I thought cleared my head for two days. Always a treat. Lots of little tea needs can be met there.

...Hey Ace...I know LA has a Japantown..with at least several shops...I will try to check with my one contact there to see if he will name names...and addreses...
Have you had some good Japanese tea this year...this has been my best year for Japanese tea....

Bamboo Tea Company is closed. I'll be in L.A. next weekend and was looking through the searches to see what shops I should visit. Wing Hop Fung of course, but are there any other shops that people are enjoying these days? Mainly looking for loose oolongs and some cheap accessories, but there's always room for a new pot or cup...

You have to be careful with Wing Hop Fung for oolongs--those large glass jars do not do their more delicate teas justice. The green oolongs in particular can lose some of their best characteristics from being in them too long. I am about to enjoy some of their Supreme Wuyi Big Red Robe, always a reliable if not a transcendent tea, and it's where I usually get my fix of SeaDyke TKY. I often buy the Zhangshu Lake Taiwan oolong which seems to lose less than some of the fancier teas. I've not tried many of the oolongs that come in smaller sealed tins, so don't know their quality--they might be very good or not so good, I just have no idea.

I was there in May for the first time and saw the glass jars, thinking the same thing. I picked up a few non-tea things there but felt like I had to at least pick up one or two teas. Their "Taiwan A-Li Shan Supreme Oolong Tea" is actually one of my favorite green oolongs. They might have some fast turnover of that tea and it doesn't lose as much flavor, or I just got lucky with a "fresh" batch.

It's blue-green in color, creamy with a hint of cinnamon or something... and affordable. I think I'll stock up when I'm there, especially since their shipping is overpriced to San Diego.

I just realized that I still have 5 grams left somewhere...
