Hello all,
I'm relatively new to drinking pue-rh tea and was gifted the following from a friend who didn't clue me in to much detail. I would like learn about it. (I'm really enjoying it) --I am unable to find this exact one online. Any help would be very appreciated. Best - Howard

Thanks for the assistance-- Using google translate I was able to dig up enough info. I take it they are a pretty mainstream producer?

Not the same cake though - that one has a brown box on the front. Anyway, Nanqiao.... nothing particularly good ever comes from Nanqiao

Not sure if I should start a new thread as there will always be folks asking to help ID cakes. Not all of us have seen all the cakes right?

used in late '90s to about '01 cakes. Supposed to be wild arbor cakes.

i failed to state that the cake looks very young or dry stored in the middle. the dry part looks like 2009 most. the sides are like 2007.
the tea still taste quite bitter. however, the camphor taste is immediately obvious from 2nd infusion onwards.

shah82, thanks for the reply. after browsing thru taobao for nearly 1 hour, the reference to 2001 is true while wild arbor is not mentioned.

the cake on taobao is also as young as i've seen. could you tell me why is that?

Doesn't look that young for a nominally 2001 even moderatly dry-stored cake. I wouldn't know, though without sight and smell.

Unfortunately, my $15 bet did not yield a Menghai cake.
The positive note is that this cake does seem 9-10 year old instead of the earlier cake.

The Taobao page you linked to was not $15, if you bought it from another place then you just took a silly risk. After all, there are a million cakes out there with this wrapper - wrappers like these are not exclusive to anyone and can be found everywhere.
