How long should I rinse for?

I've read various guides online about how to make pu-erh.

They all have different amounts of time for the rinse going from 10 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, and 30 seconds.

How much time is enough? How long do you do a first rinse for? Should I use hot water like you would for pu-erh at the brink of boiling, or full boiling water?

Less than a few seconds, just boiling water in - boiling water out.

That is up to you really. For most part rinses are pretty quick, but sometimes people do two or three rinses depending on the tea. Another hidden benefit is with some very strong puerh teas the rinses have a perk of taking some of the bite out of the tea making it more pleasant to drink from the beginning.

Just enough to cover what you are brewing should be sufficient.

For rinses, you mostly just need enough to cover the leaves, no need to really waste water.

I usually do 2 rinse, One flash and one of 20s. This make sure the first brew I do will actually have flavor in it. After that I usually get 6 good brew out of the tea which is pleany enough to me

Yes, those bubbles attract the dust and stuff from the leaves which is why they are scraped off. I'm not a chemist but I think it is probably not too different from the way soaps work.
