Congratulations to the winners! It was a real nice offer!
Re: Hambone Pottery- Woodfired Guinomi Giveaway
Received the guinomi last week. I've been looking at it & holding it a couple of times a day since then. It is most interesting as it so varied in how it feels & looks. There is bright finished glaze, unglazed patches, partially glazed spots, smoothness, roughness, bumps....I think of it as a learning piece -- more to be learned for me, the owner than the maker-- the guinomi's contrasts help me to appreciate beauty. An analogy is Asian dance that features one dancer performing exquisite, exacting moves while her "shadow" dances along her in a much less refined & defined manner. At first one might feel that the shadow is incompetent & does not belong on stage; however, the star of the show would not shine so brightly w/o her.
The rougher & duller spots of this guinomi allow me to appreciate the rest of it much more & other teaware as well. Overall it works as a total piece also; however, when trying to photograph & catch how the guinomi appears to me, I fail. I'll admit that I just picked up a camera after 20 years; so, others might be able to catch what I describe in a photo.
I am grateful to have this unique work.

Ethan, thanks very much for your appreciation! I hope you enjoy the guinomi with whatever you choose to drink from it. I use my guinomi as often for sake and bourbon as I do tea.
Cheers!
