Hi,
While I got my new Yixing pot, I have still not gotten my order from White2Tea.
Right now, I only have, what i learnt in hindesight is low quality mini-tuo puerh (broken leaves). Even tough, I quite like it for now (I guess i'll like genuine puerh more when I get it). I do want to drink it so i'm not going to throw it away.
My question is - whether brewing these mini-tuos will "compromise" my new pot? Are the "fishy" smells gonna be embedded in it?
Re: Low quality tea in a good teapot?
In short, its possible.
I wouldnt use anything with a "fishy" smell in my new teapot unless you like the fishy taste/smell. Yixing will take on the taste of tea over time but I its really a crap shoot.

Re: Low quality tea in a good teapot?
I can brew it in my glass teapot.. it's not like I HAVE to do it in the Yixing.
Guess i'll better avoid it so I don't regret in a few months.

There ya go! I actually prefer my tea in glass/porcelain over yixing. To each their own I guess.anabol wrote:I can brew it in my glass teapot.. it's not like I HAVE to do it in the Yixing.

Agreed. The only things I worry about in my unglazed teawares are things with off smells, or that are not straight C. sinensis teas. Those I reserve for brewing in/drinking from fully glazed pieces.Poseidon wrote:I wouldnt use anything with a "fishy" smell in my new teapot

I'm enjoying the irony of someone named Poseidon making this statement.Poseidon wrote:I wouldnt use anything with a "fishy" smell in my new teapot
