Ceramic Coating

by davlittman » Nov 4th, '14, 00:29

So I bought this yixing set that came with a teapot, a pitcher, and several tea cups. The cups have the ceramic coating seen below, while the teapot and pitcher do not. I use the teapot exclusively for Wuyi Oolongs, but I really like the pitcher, and want to use it with other teas made in other teapots. Is it possible to apply a coating to the inside of the pitcher, like the coating in the teacups? Or is that something that has to be done during the manufacturing process?

the coating is a glaze, and yes, it is done during firing. There is, by the way no real need to use a pitcher. You can pour the tea directly from the pot into the cups.
