Broken faircup!

by Eastree » Feb 8th, '08, 03:43

My faircup has a crack in it. What should I do?!

I'm taking suggestions!

The poll runs until my next payday!

Rejection of gongfu for the pious life of sencha...oh did that crack me up!

Speaking of cracks...if the crack isn't leaking, there's no real rush to replace the piece. One of my favorite cups has had an unsightly crack down the side for months...but it still holds, so I haven't stressed too much about replacement. But I guess you could use it as an excuse for buying something better. :)

I actually use my faircup as a samashi/yuzamashi for when I brew sencha. Not sure how that fits in, but I thought I'd talk about myself for a bit– it is my favorite subject, after all.

The crack holds. But it's an inexpensive one any way.

It's one of the clear glass faircups from YSllc. Like this one

And so it's more an excuse to get a new one!

I just can't decide whether to get a direct replacement, use my super huge improvised samashi/yuzamashi (a ceramic creamer vessel which is well suited for the task but MUCH better suited to the volume of liquid when brewing Japanese greens), or whether I should save a bit and go for a themed set.

... or what xD

ROFLMAO I love you guys!

my advice is use the money to buy tea as long as you have containers that do the job. it is however advice I wouldn't follow, as justifying new teaware purchases is a full time hobby for me.

OK, so now it really is broken! I was warming everything for some gongfu's pu, and it cracked. the bottom is no longer attached!

That's really my worry with the first crack. And yes, the first crack did expand to the resultant break.

I say those clear glass faircups are by far the best. I have a couple of others that dribble terribly and are not worth the space they take up. They are pretty, but they don't do the job. Maybe I should use those as a slapdashi/yodamashi like our favorite subject to talk about (when he's not around anyway).
