Most expensive tea?
Probably Goashan at $1/g! A sample of 30g cost $30, pretty expensive, but in that case very worth it!
It's possible I paid more for aged yancha, but that one I had calculated the break down so I remember it!

Probably one of the nicely bottled DHP at US$1000 for 168 grams that I bought a few years ago.. 
Too preciuos to brew and only drink it in very rare occasion. Also takes years to learn how to brew this kind of tea.

The most expensive tea is Da Hong Pao, from wuyi mountain, China.
It's a famous Wuyi Yan Cha, which belongs to oolong tea. It's around 1600USD/500g. It's expensive because it's very rare, originally, only 6 tea trees growing in the cliff, but now they are growing in many places through reproduction.
I didn't buy those from the cliff, and I heard they are not for sell anymore, but I tried Da Hong Pao from farms in Wuyi Moutain. It's so good.
I don't know if u like oolong tea, it has intense roasted flavor and a bit fragrant orchid, and smells good. I like it a looot.

Hi Nicole, I think teaman wanted to know the most expensive tea one of us actually bought. But still, interesting to read about this super-rare tea.. is this the one Robert Nixon got when he visited China?
My most expensive tea yet was the 1960's Liubao from Essence of Tea.. ordered 5g alongside with another order, and since, i sometimes take the small bag out, look at it respectfully, and then put it away again

Must be something about the human condition? I have the same tea, same amount and do the same thing. Marshal wrote a nice post on this topic. The bottom line being you cannot take it with you!
Maybe I will get out that LB and share it with my son?
The most expensive tea I bought was that 10g '60's HouDe Gong Bing Pu. It sits respectfully on my tea shelf...
