First Yixing Tea Pot

by tdell001 » Jan 8th, '15, 10:21

I have been becoming more interested in oolong tea lately. I was thinking about getting a gaiwan but then I realized I already have a cupping set, which is pretty similar. So, I think I would like to get a yixing tea pot with a price of about $40-$50 (or a little less) and a volume of about 120ml. I am aware this is a common quest but the other topics seem outdated and I really do not trust ebay. Do you have any recommendations for me?

I find this tea pot attractive in shape, size and price but the filter seems quite bad and I do not know about the quality. What do you think?

For that price I would just pick one up from ebay. I have, and still use, a few that i purchased and they work fine. The biggest annoyance is the lack of a filter and the lids being loose/leaky.

I will suggest that you consider a porcelain shui ping. I have one that I believe was under $20 that has an amazing seal and filter. Its the pot I reach for 9 out of 10 times. I think its either 90 or 100ml though.
