Hi guys,
what do you think which is the best Shu/Ripe Pu-Erh? I was reading many times Menghai tea factory is best and also recipe 7572 is great... Your opinion?
Regards
Lepo

My favorite Shou Puerh is the 2008 Menghai Song of Chi Tse. It is sold by various sellers but I got mine from Berylleb King Tea on EBay.

This question is going to get many many different answers because everyone has different tastes. I personally like my puerh to have a sweetness to them. Right now my favorite is the is the Manluo Yiwu Zhengshan cake from puerhshop.

Hands down the best shou puerh I've had was made of gushu material from the Bulang mountains. It's just so layered and interesting.

If you're new to pu I highly recommend 7572. And like me, you might then try 20 others and then just buy more 7572.

A 25 years old Menghai (region, not the factory) loose shu arbor.
I only had the sample along with my cakes from a private collector in Fatshan.
It is the best shu I have ever had but I don't like it enough to pay more than $300/500g though.

My favorites are a 2006 Mengku shu I have, and Mandala's "Phatty Cake" mini-cakes, although those are a bit pricey for shu (at least $/gram.)

Taste is subjective, and you will not be able to get an absolute answer to that question. I will not attempt it either, I can however name some cooked teas that have, to me, been very interesting.
The white tuo from w2t, the Qiao Jun Huang Zhi and the Bulang Gushu mentioned earlier from Crimson Lotus, and the '98 and '02 7581 from pu-erh.sk are all teas that I've really liked, but all very different from one another and hard to compare against each other!

As far as Dayi recipe cakes go I like 7572, 7562, 7452 and 7562. However the Yunnan Sourcing 2011 Hui Run is very tasty.

Liming's Stairway to Heaven is like 7572 turbocharged. One of my faves.

My favourite so far is 1999 CNNP Old tree brick.
Menghai Golden Needle White Lotus is nice with a complex taste but a bit pricey.

This one is my favorite... for now. Excellent shu, but I have no idea where to find more. I bought this tuo from one of the direct chinese vendors at World Tea Expo in Vegas a few years ago and just opened it recently. Soooo very good, but I can't source it here in the States...any help finding more from an ebay vendor or any other source would be greatly appreciated.

grimbasement, if you don't know the source or name of the pu erh you may try searching the QS code (I cannot read it from your picture). In the past this has been helpful to me in figuring out the name/factory/other info about a pu erh cake I don't know much about. Sometimes searching the QS code would bring up a posting on Taobao, and then (since I am not fluent in Mandarin) I would toggle between Bable Carp and Google Translate to find more information about the cake.
I am not sure if you already have the basic information for this cake, I do know procuring that would be helpful in your search.

Thanks for the tips.
The QS code is q85331 14010093
But a google search didn't turn up anything. the Tea factory name in english on the wrapper is Kunming Qingmei Tea Co. LTD. But googling that doesn't some up with much either...
