Make a paste of baking soda and coat the interior of the teapot, thoroughly. Let it sit like this for at least 24 hours. Then run boiling water through it. If this doesn't work, try bleach. If this doesn't work, I would demand my money back from the vendor. You will find out how reliable a vendor they are very quickly.JB-ONE wrote:No I didn't talk to them. Maybe it's nothing, but there definitely is a smell there with the other ones.

They are good about taking pots back, even if you used them. But the fact that it's been a couple years might change things... I wouldn't expect a refund after that longTead Off wrote:Make a paste of baking soda and coat the interior of the teapot, thoroughly. Let it sit like this for at least 24 hours. Re: Yixing Suggestions
It is odd that the buyer bought two pots with an odor and didn't tell them about it, sooner.
Re: Yixing Suggestions
what's odd about it or are trying to imply something here?Tead Off wrote:It is odd that the buyer bought two pots with an odor and didn't tell them about it, sooner.
Re: Yixing Suggestions
I'm trying to help you. If I had bought 2 pots from someone and they both smelled and I couldn't get rid of the smell, I would have have contacted the vendor right away. That's all. Why did you wait so long? Maybe there were extenuating circumstances that prevented you from letting the vendor know? I would still contact the vendor if I were you.JB-ONE wrote:what's odd about it or are trying to imply something here?Tead Off wrote:It is odd that the buyer bought two pots with an odor and didn't tell them about it, sooner.

If you want, I'll just send you the teapot.BW85 wrote:If you can't get the smell out I'll gladly buy it from you and see what I can doJB-ONE wrote:Thanks. I'll try this and let it air out and see what happens.heliospace wrote:Have you tried pouring boiling water in it, leaving the lid off, and letting it sit for 24-72 hours? This has taken the odors away in some old pots I have acquired, but be sure to leave the lid off. Cheers.JB-ONE wrote:I have the 60ml Qing Shui Ni from Sample Tea. It has a strange smell that never went away after boiling it, so I don't use it.
