Have you talked with them (Samplepots) about it?
No I didn't talk to them. I had the pot for a couple years now. It might be fine, but I don't use it to be on the safe side. My camera isn't the best.
Make a paste of baking soda and coat the interior of the teapot, thoroughly. Let it sit like this for at least 24 hours. Then run boiling water through it. If this doesn't work, try bleach. If this doesn't work, I would demand my money back from the vendor. You will find out how reliable a vendor they are very quickly.

They are good about taking pots back, even if you used them. But the fact that it's been a couple years might change things... I wouldn't expect a refund after that long

It is odd that the buyer bought two pots with an odor and didn't tell them about it, sooner.

I'm trying to help you. If I had bought 2 pots from someone and they both smelled and I couldn't get rid of the smell, I would have have contacted the vendor right away. That's all. Why did you wait so long? Maybe there were extenuating circumstances that prevented you from letting the vendor know? I would still contact the vendor if I were you.

Have you tried pouring boiling water in it, leaving the lid off, and letting it sit for 24-72 hours? This has taken the odors away in some old pots I have acquired, but be sure to leave the lid off. Cheers.
Thanks. I'll try this and let it air out and see what happens.
If you can't get the smell out I'll gladly buy it from you and see what I can do :D
If you want, I'll just send you the teapot.
