Can you tell me about my teaware?

by Anlina » Mar 16th, '15, 12:53

I'm pretty uninformed about Yixing teaware. This set has been around my house for at least 20 years, and as far as I know my dad brought it back from China. I'm guessing that he bought it new, though it's possible that it came from another family member, so I don't know how old it actually is.

It's never been used, just been sitting in a cupboard for decades.

I'm not even sure what questions to ask.

I'm guessing this was slip cast, though there are small variations between each cup.

Any info or insights would be great, thanks!

1990´s ? nice tea set ! Details look nice, clay too.
Signet xiao ying but can not read the family name, you better take photo of the bottom stamp when is dry , very clear one more photo.

Wish I could tell you more, but I will say it looks like very nice clay, and overall WAY better than the average "hey I found this teapot at my grandma's house" post we get around here! Thanks for sharing. I'll be interested to find out more from the Yixing experts here myself.

Thank you for the replies.

Here are photos of the stamp on the bottom of the pot and tray. Both are kind of obscured - the impression didn't take too well in the centre. They're not the same (though some characters are).
