Lin's Purion seasoning?

What are your opinions/experiences on seasoning a new Purion gaiwan before use?

I ask because I came across instructions for purple clay saying you're not supposed to even mix teas which it was seasoned with along with some very complex instructions to boil it with a bunch of different ingredients a few times then high quality tea to finish seasoning.

I plan to get a ceramic gaiwan and some purple clay pots down the line but wanted something simple to prepare and enjoy my teas in the meantime but apparently purion isn't always the best choice for every kind of tea.

Don't listen to those myths, just brew the tea in them, even the clay pots. If they have any kind of quality it will be fine.

I'm sure there's something to the whole seasoning process right? What about mixing/brewing different types of tea in the same purion/zhisha vessel?

AT333, I'm not sure as they were purchased while I was in Taiwan. There will be more purchases on my next visit too, maybe a water kettle and/or tea container in Purion.

not so much, purion is quite highly fired and has been repeatedly fired

for a new kettle or vessel sometimes people do boil some rice water in it just to get rid of the earthy smell and close up some possible pores

using different teas should be ok, but lin's have their recommendation, i.e. heavy roasted or higher oxidation teas on purion.

the purion gaiwan is not cheap! you kinda started on the higher end of things 8)

Great! Thank you for clearing it up! I've brought it back over a month now and have yet to use it for anything.

Yes it was a bit high but I also did spend a lot on some very fine teas elsewhere. The 台灣老茶 that the Lin's vendor had was very good too!

I went back and forth and had initially purchased the larger plain pottery gaiwan but after much deliberation and taste tests, the purion really did make a difference to me and I prefer darker earthier teas like roasted oolongs and pu-erh.

I grew up drinking teas all my life but am now finally getting deeper into it so it should be a worthwhile purchase.

My next purchase will be a ceramic or pottery gaiwan and/or a purple clay pot of some sort.
