awesome site but - why not

this is a good site...however there are some brand names that are repeated over and over again...

Would it make sense to have sub-forums for certain brands such as o-cha, rishi, lupicia, ito-en...??

Considering it is run, owned, and paid for by Adagio... No.

I for one would not start a forum for a specific vendor, but anyone can start a thread for a particular vendor...as long as it is not the vendor itself doing it or an agent of the vendor. For instance, there is a thread for O-Cha already.

Mods are very sensitive to false testimonials, also BTW.

[Mary's Edit: Yes, we are VERY sensitive to false testimonials. They're the same as spam in my book.]

Agreed...Adagio is very lenient as it is, I wouldn't want to impose on their amazing generosity any further.

If you think about it that's the best way to get a solid tea forum though. If it were segregated and too much of a tea police state, then people wouldn't want to communicate here and opt for a freer forum. Anything honest should be said even if it is not in the best interest of the host.

It is like deja vu all over again.

I almost forgot that this was run by adagioteas, which in itself says a lot. They are not advertising their company on this forum at all which is very nobel of them. I want to pause here and thank them for this.

However, I would think that establishing such a forum with subforums regarding certain vendors, would only strenghten their image as a company and simply would show how confident they feel about their company.

On the other hand, I think that the mods may already have their hands full keeping this forum clear of false advertising/reviews...and it would be unfair to place more burden on them.

I guess its being caught between a rock and a hard place. I retract my suggestion.

Not a horrible suggestion but it would surely add clutter as there are so many vendors that teachatters use. People post reviews, questions and other information about specific vendors and teas within each of the tea forums so hopefully you can find what you're looking for there!

Although an interesting idea, I think it has too many potential problems to be viable. Most other tea companies would not like a competitor having cnotrol over the relationship they have with their clients. It's one thing if a few threads mention another company. Something else if Adagio is seen as fostering an area where people actively badmouth our competitors.

There are a few litigious tea companies out there that give us a tough time about having TeaMap listings. I have a feeling the lawyers would be working overtime if we introduced this idea.
