The owner Theresa is really good people and has good taste for tea and teaware. I know her from her days working at Fang's Tea in Queens. I haven't had the chance to try her teas yet (I was in the middle of moving to Hawaii when she opened her shop), but I'd be shocked if they weren't very good. Please give them a try and let us know what you think.

I highly recommend giving them a try. If you can, go in person. Theresa is incredibly knowledgeable and I'm sure she'll have tons of stories to share about her recent trip to Taiwan. Here's a write up that I did on my blog after my first visit.

Nice write-up Nicole. Now I'm really regretting not checking it out before I left NYC.

+1 to going in person.

She knows a lot about tea. Watching her brew and drinking with her is a lesson in itself.

I ended up in New York last week. I did go and she is incredibly knowledgable. She asked me a lot of questions which I never really get (at places like Song Tea and Red Blossom) so sometimes I get feed basic info I already know but Theresa was giving me info I've never known. She also picked the perfect tea for me to taste. Her charchoal roasted Cui Feng is extremely juicy and fruity and the year of age has mellowed it out, I only got the slightest roast taste and throat roughness in the second steep.

Stopped in last week with my wife and two friends. We did gongfu cha with Theresa's Yushan wulong. (My wife and I climbed to the top of Yushan in 1996 while we were living in Taiwan so we *had* to try that tea.) It was buttery, smooth, thick, and refreshing. Lost track of how many steepings we did (good conversation is distracting!), but it was a bunch. Despite the fact that we were the only people there, Theresa didn't hover but stayed out of our way until we needed more water.

Lusted after some of her teaware, but purchased tea instead -- some of the Yushan and her cuifeng. As Zacherywolf7 said, the cuifeng is really a wonderful tea -- I've brewed it three times since and it's been fabulous each time.

I definitely will be back, especially to talk more with Theresa about her teas, and to purchase some more. Recommended!

Most personal tea service in NYC.

When the person knows both the growers and the roasters, you know you are in good hands. She is a lovely lady!

Make that +2, T shop has a highly curated selection and Theresa is a fun owner to chat with. I look forward to spending some more time there next month!

Glad to see this topic revived lately. Stopped in a few weeks ago as I'm in the area. Best tea shop I've been too in Manhattan (never been out to Fang's); Theresa is a lovely lady and knows her stuff for sure. Picked up a few gao shans (including the yu shan) when I was there which are very nice. Apparently she runs a tea gathering on Monday nights from 7:30 ($15, no reservations needed) , so I'll be going in next week. Might be nice to meet some other teaheads in the neighborhood if people are around. Def going to try the cuifeng next time!

I've been praying for my work schedule to cooperate so that I can finally make it there on a Monday night. Hope to run into some of you there at some point :)
