hmm... yeah 吴坤大 = wu kun da. he didnt carve the vessel, he was just involved with the manufacture of it, which is why his seal goes onto it. this object is moulded and mass produced, and not a hand crafted vessel. material is probably qingshui-clay, the outside is coated with fine red clay, the inside is a rougher uncoated clay.
the carving is by someone else that goes on the 艺名 of Shi Xi - 石溪
the real 石溪 = 任淦庭, died 1969. But there seemed to be other artistes signing off as 石溪 into the 70s and later. better for experts to advice you further on appraisal and other aspects relating to this, as this is beyond me
Brockodile wrote:Kyarazen, I am wondering why you translated that to Yixing Factor No 1? I have been told elsewhere that it is the seal of the artist named Wu Kunda. A famous contemporary Yixing master born in 1944.
I could only find one vase he did which shows the same skill in the bird artistry, as everything is in Chinese and I am having a hard time finding information. I have found some of his teapots going for many thousands of dollars though?
What are your thoughts?
edit: sorry, I realize now you were saying that 吴坤大 IS a worker from Factory No 1. lol. It is hard to find anything from him on English websites though....very difficult.
