Hey all,
I'm in Taiwan for the New Year, and was hoping to try out some YQH while I'm here since I hear it's a Taiwanese outfit. However, I don't believe the guy who presses these cakes has an actual brick-and-mortar store, at least that's what his website leads me to believe.
Does anyone know a reliable source for YQH in the Taipei metro area? I would be very grateful for any information in this regard!
Also if anyone has any opinions on this outfit in general or specific cakes worth trying/avoiding, I'm all ears.
Thanks and Happy New Year!
Re: Some good places for Yangqing Hao in/around Taipei?
For all things YQH please check TeaDB.org. They have reviewed few of their teas and the source where they obtained the samples / cakes from.

Rui, thanks for the tip!
Indeed teadb's recent series on YQH's various cakes is what got me interested in the first place; lots of good info there. It seems that those teas were procured through a group buy which sources it directly from Taiwan, which is a good resource for those located in the west. However, since I'm here in Taiwan now, I figured there might be a way to directly sample a number of cakes in a short time. YQH is based in Tainan I believe but perhaps there are outfits in Taipei that carry it as well.

Part of the problem is that Taipei is not that great a place to buy puerh, from what I hear. Just gunna have to go south, and call ahead. Have you tried phoning him for someone who could rep?
Also, I'd try the merchants that advertise on jft4u.com, maybe one of them is based in Taipei and they might be able to help. I know urchin and Andy's tea both have YQH in Taiwan.

Many places have YQH cakes in Taipei, but good luck finding a place that will sell you never mind letting you sample a better than average YQH cake.AdmiralKelvinator wrote:Rui wrote:For all things YQH please check TeaDB.org. Going to Taipei in spring, from my research I haven't seen any vendor which carries them...like Shah said, the ones that do are mostly in Taichung or Tainan.
I did find this place which is online:
http://seller.pcstore.com.tw/S143752258 ... 6%E5%8C%85
They have YQH. Sometimes these online vendors have physical locations and not being fluent in Chinese I was unable to find one listed on site. Perhaps they are in Taipei?

A little internet sleuthing reveals a store in Taoyuan called 雅竹軒茶舍, which may very well be the same source as from the link above. Copy/paste the name in google maps and it should show up. However, while Taoyuan is relatively close to Taipei, it is not so convenient to get to by train.
I didn't end up finding (or really seriously digging for) any YQH last time. Got rather distracted with hunting for aged oolong and ended up not having time for pu. Never enough time when I'm in Taiwan to drink all the tea I want to! But I'll be going back again in March, so hopefully I'll be able to give the place above a look-see.
bellmont, when in the spring will you be in Taiwan?
Re: Some good places for Yangqing Hao in/around Taipei?
It is! Just take the high speed, takes about half an hour. Cab from the station to shop will be a neglectable fee (google maps says 24-30min, so prob. around 300-500 NT).AdmiralKelvinator wrote: A little internet sleuthing reveals a store in Taoyuan called 雅竹軒茶舍, which may very well be the same source as from the link above. Might be worth checking out buses too, even cheaper and they might actually drop you off close by.
Re: Some good places for Yangqing Hao in/around Taipei?
Lol, I'm still getting them cheaper than from Taiwan shops . And many more to choose from. The ones listed there are lower middle range YQH.
Re: Some good places for Yangqing Hao in/around Taipei?
Hey emmett, the pc chrome one has a link to a snow bud '06 that's not on the reference english YQH site.
Re: Some good places for Yangqing Hao in/around Taipei?
Just saw it.. Another one to look into. And add to the list.... And I know there is another 07 brick too I've asked about.
Wuyangcha is actually a little cheaper at the site.
