jayinhk wrote:Nada, any recommendations for new liu bao baskets? I'm in Hong Kong and wanted to pick one or two up for aging. I was looking at Three Cranes' Taobao store earlier and considering picking up their priciest cellar-aged basket.
The problem with new liu bao is that the processing has changed. I haven't found any post-2010 that are really good to drink.
They've tried everything to speed the process up.... lighter fermentation, heavier fermentation, shorter storage time before selling, but lost the traditional character.

Thanks, that's good info! I'll try and track down some older stuff.

You're welcome. I'm sure you can probably find some nice old ones in HK too.

Hi everybody! Can anyone recommend an everyday shou from the usual suspects (Chawang, w2t, ya) that's a good end of day tea? Relaxing energy, not too much caffeine, interesting? Interested in what you like. Thanks!

hey you guys - stumbled on these two cakes. The one looks like CNNP standard issue - does anyone recognize the other?

Got this tuocha the other day. The seller says its Xiaguan 2009 tuocha, but I can't get a specific make. The box has 2009.11.06 stamped on it.
I compared it to a Te Ji tuocha I had before, and this new tuocha seems a bit less smoky and a bit more bland (though it may be the issue of a small quantity I used for tasting). The box and the product look just as in the pictures. Any ideas?
