impromptuandy: 100 ml Oxidation Fired Nosaka Hohin by Shimizu Ken

by impromptuandy » Jul 7th, '16, 15:29

Purchased from Hojo in early 2015. I've used it a fair bit -- originally with yancha, then with Taiwanese oolongs. It pours very fast, basically instantly. It has a slight mineral ring where the lid rests on the body, and some tea stains on the interior part of the spout and under the lid. No chips, hairlines, scratches, etc.

I'm selling because I've got another pot I've been using for the same purpose, so I figured this should go where it'll get more use.

I think the clay pairs well particularly with Taiwanese oolongs, and I'd recommend it for that purpose. I'll include a sample (~10 grams) of a traditionally processed dong ding, which I've enjoyed with the hohin. You can read about the dong ding here: http://www.kyarazen.com/traditional-don ... xperiment/

It measures about 100 ml when filled to the brim with water.

Here's pics (sorry, I'm kind of bad at these):

how's the lid fit on it?
is there any side-to-side (horizontal) sliding, or is the fit pretty tight?

There's no sliding, it's about as snug as can be.
