A friend of mine went to Japan a few months back and brought me back two expensive tins of matcha.
I was thinking of getting a gift for her and her husband the next time I go over there. I was thinking of buying her 4 glass matcha bowls, a brush, and a bamboo spoon. It occurred to me that I didn't know how matcha was made for guests/multiple people.
Is it made one bowl at a time, or in one big bowl and then poured into the bowls of the guests?
Thanks you.
Re: How is Matcha made for guests?
During the Japanese tea ceremony, in which matcha is served as a part of a small gathering of people, the host usually prepares matcha in one chawan, and the guests share (drinking from the same bowl).beforewisdom wrote:A friend of mine went to Japan a few months back and brought me back two expensive tins of matcha.

The good news, however, is that you can make matcha however you want to, so getting 4 bowls is fine (though I'm not sure I've ever seen glass chawan).
