Questions on 3 teapots

by mael » Feb 5th, '17, 14:44

Hello,

I am a tea and teaware enthousiast from france, often looking for new yixing teapots, but lacking skill and experience in teaware. I read a lot this forum as there is a lot of people with knowledge on tea and teaware, able to identify teapots and share experience about tea and teaware universe.

In my quest of acquiring factory 1 shuiping I came across three teapots that I uploaded pictures on my flickr account.

Two are shuiping and one is shi piao teapot. I would like to know if someone would be interested in giving its opinion about those teapots ?

the shuipings are replicas, probably post 2000s

the shipiao might be F1 late 80s to early 90s, but I am not 100% sure

I don't have much to add to what Steanze said, except that the clay material from those pots look pretty good, so they might be good for brewing. Just make sure to check for the usual off smell and taste.

Hello,

On this teapot there is a metal ring at the end of the spout, is it because the spout was damaged or is it for esthetism ?

Is it original or it was a later addition for better use maybe ?

This teapot is presented as a 1960-1970 F1 teapot, was it common for teapot of this era to have metal ring like this teapot ?

the metal ring is a repair of the spout, added later. We'll need more pictures to tell if this is F1, unless Kyarazen stops by (he could even recognize an F1 pot from a blurred cropped picture of the handle  )
so far it looks plausible

It looks like a late 60s / early 70s, but we need at least a photo of the teapot's inside.
