shuiping clay id

by stevorama » Mar 19th, '17, 16:26

I recently picked up this 110 ml shuiping. It was cheap and no claims were made. I can see two clay colors at the teapot and lid rim where the clay was ground for fit. I'm assuming this is from a thin layer of clay applied over the teapot? The exterior and interior colors are the same. When heated it smells of hot stone/clay, no off smells. What do you think of the clay?

The only thing I see is that is a gorgeous looking shui ping. It can brew anything really. Enjoy it!

I have a similar Factory 1 (1990) with the typical Chinese calligraphy script on the body of the pot (several teachatters got the same vessel). It isn't afraid of any tea. One of my top three pots.

Thanks. Yes, I plan to enjoy it! At first I wondered if there were 2 clays, but I think not.
