Seeking insights on pots

by kyle.key » Apr 9th, '17, 21:20

Hello,
Wanted to share some of my pots with the group and solicit any insights into clay/dates/factory. Have really appreciated reading/learning based on other posts.
Looks like I may be limited to 3 files, so if the quality/arrangements are helpful I'll post some additional pots.
Thanks in advance,

Hard to say from these pictures, but the first two seems to be modern pots, from the 2000s onward is my guess. The pictures of the third pot is really too low quality to judge.

[edit] oops, got my order wrong from looking at it on the phone. when I say third, I really mean first. So what William said. :) [/edit]

Yeah, agree. Everything seems to be modern made; 2nd and 3rd ones try to imitate ROC period teapots, while 1st one could be a factory teapot, but better photos are definitely required.

The last one has been made during the mid/late 80s or later, not a F1 teapot for sure; the clay looks good though!

Thanks! Can I ask what the biggest indicators were for you? I would guess stamp on bottom, shape are part of it- but would love to hear what else you see.

Clay, molds used, spout, bottom, stamp, knob, lid's inner part, proportions, handle .. and many other things.

I agree with William on that last one. Also a single hole filter for a pigeon shape pot is pretty rare (not sure that it exists) for factory pots. A good looking pot though.

[edit] Looks like there are pigeon shape pots in the 80s, so this could be factory 1 production from the 80s. Still not sure since the patina on the pot hides the true color the clay. The stamps under the lid and pot also gives me pause since they are not ones I am familiar with. [/edit]
