Hello,
Usually I am a boring tea user. Using a glass teapot and no other fancy things.
But today at goodwill I stumbled across this cute teapot. It is made of cast iron and came with a cast iron warmer also. For $5 I thought I give it a try.
The warmer and the pot are made in Japan. There are also some Japanese symbols on the pot.
The lid is enameled on the inside. The pot however is not. At least it doesn't look like it is. There is a black crust in the pot that loosens when I touch it. Like something burned in there.
Any tips on how to clean this? And also where can I find a good website to read about how to take care of the teapot. It does have some rusty spots I need to remove.

Re: Cleaning help and identification
Not really a teapot, more like a kettle. would not even be sure it is really made in Japan, probably made in China. Those gold spots look like extra colour not sure how food safe that is...
God knows what is in the coating, I would not use it.

This looks to me like a tea pot that has been abused as used as kettle. if the lid has enamel then most likely the teapot has it too. the cast iron iron teapot neither the lid nor inside had enamel. it also very much look like the iwachu tea potsNaora wrote: Hello,
