Just received my first order from Yunnan Sourcing. So happy
What a nice service! Highly recommend for pu erh.
I got some ripe pu erh cakes and they all came in ziploc bag. Should I keep them sealed in the bag or take them out to breath? Maybe just opening the bag is enough?
I know raw pu erh need aeration to age but not sure what to do with my ripe.
Thank you

According to Camellia Sinensis, you need to keep your cake sealed and remove all the air.
That what they told me for my raw puerh cake.
Share some photo of your cake!
Cheers!!

I would say open them up to breathe a bit. You can always seal them back in a good grade pouch later on.

My understanding is that if a tea cake is sealed in a bag without air, it will stop aging. The microorganisms which make it age need a little air to do their magic.
I keep mine in purple clay storage jars, away from light and smells, trying to keep the temperature and humidity constant.
