How to best get rid of plastic aromas in samples?

by Iizuki » Oct 10th, '18, 14:53

Hello all,

I just recieved a bunch of puerh samples from SampleTea. They come packed in small ziplocked plastic bags that are then stuffed into these little cardboard "match boxes". But I'm sure many of you are alrady familiar with these.

However these little plastic bags are far from neutrall and seem to release quite a bit plastic aroma into the tea. So my question is that what would be the best way to get rid of these plastic aromas?

Here are some options that I came up with:
1. Just open the bags and let them air out on the table.
2. Take them out of the bags and place them in the little match boxes without the bags.
3. Get some neutral'ish paper bags and place them in those.
4. Any of the above but place them in the pumidor instead.

Thank you in advance!

Air them out a bit...plus that you know already that pouring boiling water on dry leaves will rinse/flush out the unwanted aroma.

Hi highly recommend to let them air in Yixing jars. I got mine from Teasenz, but you can perhaps find different ones from different vendors depending on your budget. Yixing jars are generally very good for improving the flavor of any kind of pu erh.
