Identifying Rooster Yixing Teapot

by redlivingstone » Jan 4th, '19, 18:58

I purchased this little teapot in Guilin in September 1991. It was in a little shop on Binjiang Road facing the Lijiang River. The small shop only sold teapots.

I was born and grew up in Southeast Asia and am accustomed to haggle the price a little and know a few techniques, but the shopkeeper, an elderly gentleman refused to budge. I even got to the door to leave without purchasing and he still did not waver. I am quite sure that I over paid, but I really liked it so I couldn't walk away without the sale.

Anyone have an idea who the artist is/was? Any information concerning this little teapot? There is a chop on the bottom and one inside the lid, none on the handle. The photos on a few are enhance to see better. The color is more true to the dark picture. Thank you for any comments.

Not a Yixing pot. Not worth even 50c.
