Hi
I've been drinking Puer tea for so many years that I know little about any other teas anymore. I know that I much prefer a less vegetal tea and a more buttery tea, if that makes any sense. Can you at least point me in the right direction?
Thank you

Re: Recommend more buttery /less vegetal teas, please
Hi, Matthew! I find Wenshan Bhaozhong to be more buttery and less vegetal, with a rich floral aroma. I've also been pleased with Mei Leaf's Midnight Sun, which is a charcoal-roasted Jin Xuan cultivar tea that retains a rich, buttery mouthfeel while dampening the vegetal notes.
I hope you find some oolongs that suit your tastes.

Given that you like pu erh tea, I would first make a move towards Dian Hong black teas, which are also from Yunnan province. I also find that many pu erh tea lovers like Wuyi oolong teas, so you can try this category of tea as well.

Any quality Dancong and Taiwan High Mountain oolong teas will provide you with that effect. For example:
1. Alishan Ju Lu
2. Da Yu Ling
3. Cream Stout 2016
4. Black Leaf
5. Eight Immortals Wudong
3, 4 & 5 were purchased from Tea Hong.
On the other hand the Wu Yi rock Bairuixiang I had last winter was remarkably "buttery."
