Feb 5th Discussion

Hello communiTEA drinkers,

Today we have White Cucumber!

Vegetal aroma (think cucumber appetizers at a middle eastern restaurant), with a pleasantly dry, green melon finish.

How are you enjoying?

Today was one of the days where the tea brewed perfectly and was just the tea I needed. I wish Adagio wasn’t about to get rid of this tea. 🙁

I have had this tea previously as an iced tea and liked it, I felt iced the cucumber is stronger. Today I made it hot and the melon notes seem to be stronger with a subtle cucumber note. I steeped it for 3 minutes at a white tea temp. As it cooled it seemed to get a just bit bitter. I actually really love this tea. It is light and fresh but still has a bit of complexity to it.

I was not looking forward to this one, but was very surprised how much I really did like it.

I don't notice much on the nose. I didn't get much of a cucumber flavor until the tea cooled down. It has quite a bit of tannin which will pucker you up pretty good. I liked it well enough and to steal a phrase from someone else here: "I wouldn't throw it out at a friend's house who served it to me. But I wouldn't go out looking for it either."

I wonder if one could drink these kinds of teas like you would wine after the wine and food had been designed to be complimentary.
