If I were spend 200 USD on a zhuni teapot...

by sugataishi » Dec 12th, '19, 02:54

Hi guys,
I'm relatively new to Chinese pottery, since I was into Japanese works for a long time.
I'm interested in buying a decent zhuni and zini teapots.
Budget up to 200 USD each
My priorities
Purity of the clay - the clay must be top class pure and original
Craftsmanship - done well, blanced, multi hole filter, up to 110ml
The craftsman - good to have someone well recognised by it is not a must have
Design - preferably simple and plain

Do far I have Master Wu teapots on my shortlist

Top class and pure does not cost 200$
That is mere low-mid level Zhuni... Top class expect 500$ upwards.

500 usd is for a craftsman and clay. If you have any links to 500 usd pots I would appreciate.

If by that you mean 500 for a famous craftsman, then no. Famous craftsman cost a lot more...

I don't have any links I can recommend. I also would not recommend to buys such an expensive pot without knowing what you are doing. Most people will just end up with a fake Zhuni. In most cases just finely ground hongni.

I would still recommend to go for a below 200$ for now. It's true that based on your requirements, you'll need a budget of 500$ and more, but I would never ever buy such teapots online. I would want to see it, touch it, and fall in love with it, before I make a purchasing decision.
