Feb 24th Discussion

by Bridgette » Feb 24th, '20, 00:00

Hello communiTEA drinkers,

Today we have Jasmine Phoenix Pearls!

Also known as 'Jasmine Dragon Pearls', their liquor is sweet and almost sugary. Very soft, airy mouthfeel. The delicate quality of the flavor is due in part to the leaves used to produce this tea: two tender, tiny new leaves and one plump unopened leaf bud. Younger leaves will yield softer flavor.

Are you happy to indulge in this cup?

One of my favorite things about this tea is that, in addition to smelling and tasting great, it has a real visual appeal. I like to watch the leaves unfurl as the tea steeps. For this reason, I usually make it in a glass pot, then pour it through a strainer into my cup. A feast for the eyes and nose even before I take my first sip!

P.S. I would not recommend brewing it at 195°F. I've been enjoying this tea for over a decade, and 180°F is perfect. At 195°F, you'll get a bitterness that doesn't pair well with the sweetness of the jasmine.

My wife and I shared this today in the morning. I've never been a green tea fan, but this one was good and I did enjoy it.

This is my favorite tea. I've found that it goes even better with a small splash of milk and a teaspoon of honey.

This is also my favorite tea and what I drink most afternoons . I brew it at 190 for 3-5 minutes and careful not to leave it too long otherwise it gets bitter. I love the smell and taste and it is the only green tea I will drink . Others are too grassy.

I, also, enjoyed watching it unfurl!

Once again, I neither loved nor hated it. I did really enjoy watching the leaves unfurl, and for a few seconds, thought they were going to reveal blossoms, as well. There were a few bits floating that I thought might be flower petals. I found the fragrance a bit too perfume-y for my liking, but it wasn't all that evident in the taste. I'd drink it again if it were served to me, but probably won't buy it.

We do have teas that bloom! Find them here!

(Email me over at info@adagio.com if you'd like to see a few of the blossoms!)

Hello Gorgeous! I LOVE Jasmine Phoenix Pearls so much. It is my favorite, and what a pleasant surprise when I opened the little packet and saw those gorgeous little pearls of jasmine goodness.

I am so excited to have found a green tea I love! Totally unexpected how wonderful it is to drink what smells like a fresh flower.

If I'm going to drink a subtle tea, this is the type I drink. Jasmine is bewitching to me, and I find pearl teas have a touch of richness I don't seem to find in regular loose-leaf greens. I brewed this at 185F rather than the 195 recommended, and it is wonderful! Wish I'd gotten a chance to brew it yesterday.

Forgot to reply the day of, but here goes. A very nice jasmine scent is present, that does not become muddied in any way, the taste is sweetly floral with a touch of grassiness. I really liked that it was mild enough to not slip to a taste of perfume. I will buy more at some point. :D
